HiyaIm Melanie (F36) and my wife (F27) started our journey 2nd oct 23 where we went to our GP for advice as we only got so much info on the internet. The app was useless for information and support we sat in silence for most of it but we were referred to our local fertility clinic so felt maybe they would be better equipped to provide us. We had tests blood tests, scans and the tube dye test. We both were tested with view I would try and carry first and potentially Lauren in the future with the same sperm donor so any babies would be genetically linked. At the scan Lauren was told she may have PCOS and both told our tubes were clear. My tests were done by the end of Jan 24 and Lauren’s end of Feb 24. We were chasing for months for a follow up app and finally had it two weeks ago and found out I have a thickened womb, it’s at 18 instead of 10-12 and I had a biopsy yesterday and am being tested for endo hypoplasia. However I do not have any symptoms other than the thickened womb. I cycle every 27 days and bleed for 4-5 days. It has been a really stressful few as we feel the clinic has had these tests months and they haven’t called me in to say we need to refer you to tests for something else then all of sudden I had an emergency referral and they are talking stages of hypoplasia, cancer etc. My egg reserve is also low, I don’t know figures for anything as they didn’t tell us. It was all super rushed. Lauren’s results were skipped over so we have no clue whether she is okay or if she has PCOS. We are still non the wiser about fertility options or finance options because we haven’t been told other than there avilable. When we look on line it is broken down but we just don’t understand what would be good for us or what they recommend. The Dr said that if we had the private consultation it would have all been explained. Essentially NHS have covered these tests and then we will have to go private as same sex couples are not funded in our area. We didn’t realise until that app we wouldn’t stay with that clinic if we didn’t want to and our results can be taken to any clinic. Although we have enquired with another clinic as we are not sure we want to go with this clinic due to the poor service we have had, the new clinic said they bloods in date for 12 months and scans for 6, so essentially ours will be out of date due to how long our clinic has taken to have our final app. We still feel so much in the dark and have questioned if we were private initially would they have offered us a better service. We have now been waiting two weeks for Lauren to get her results and they have now said they will send us a letter. It’s all been a bit deflating and I feel time is against me because of my age and now investigating this biopsy. We were initially told we could start IUI but then he said if I have EP I will need to reduce the lining for 6 months then probably go to IVF due to age. They haven’t explained if it isn’t EP and my lining is just thick what will happen. He prescribed me folic acid and vitamin d and I’m looking to lose some weight to reduce my bmi. Is there anything else I could do to prepare my body for better eggs etc. Had anyone got any advice at all for two people who are lost in this confusing world. We looked at the HEFA clinic to find a good clinic but even that feels confusing. Thanks Mel & Lauren x
